This article isn't about taking a coffee/chocolate break, a break from your phone or a cigarette break. It's about taking a REAL break, one that's worth taking! A break that
will make you more productive when you return to work. A moment of relaxation that's good for your health. Read on for our top tips on how to make the most of your break and revitalise your day.
Store your workspace
No more clutter, just tidy up! Taking care of your workspace can give you a sense of well-being and satisfaction. Take the opportunity to water the plants around you. That's how we got Suzanne (our ficus) back in the saddle.
Check your To Do
At the end of the day, instead of looking at what you haven't been able to finish, count up the tasks you have managed to complete. These are called small successes. In this way, you'll be able to take stock of all the things you've done during the day. It's a great way to see where the positive fits in with the negative.
Take some time to breathe
Spoiler alert: it's the best break in the world! Keep an eye on your watch and take deep breaths for 3 minutes. Alternate inhalations and exhalations at a rhythm that suits you. This is ideal when you need to unwind during the day. During these three minutes, take the opportunity to stretch your legs by taking a walk or getting some fresh air. You'll be able to get rid of stress, tension and negative thoughts. Don't hesitate to drop in on your favourite colleague if the time is right. If you're one of the lucky ones with an ActiveBase, your break is the perfect time to practise some relaxation and energy boosting exercises. The choice is yours, whether you're looking to tone up, strengthen or relax your deep muscles...
Rest your eyes
Faced with screens all day long, our eyes are subjected to this excess of technology. For the well-being of your eyeballs, remember to look out of the window into the distance. If you don't have one, this exercise can also be done by fixing a point on the far wall of your office. In addition to this, don't hesitate to work on paper to alternate with screens.
Of course, this list of tips is completely exhaustive, and you are free to carry out other vision exercises. Don't hesitate to consult a healthcare professional on this subject.
At ActiveBase, during our breaks, we regularly do exercises on our ergonomic stool.
