This article is not about coffee/croissant breaks, phone breaks or cigarette breaks. It's about taking a REAL break, a break that's worth it! A break that
will make you more productive when you return to work. A moment of relaxation that's good for your health. Read on for our top tips on how to make the most of your break and revitalise your day.
Store your workspace
No more mess, tidy up everything that's out of place! Taking care of your workspace can give you a sense of well-being and satisfaction. Take the opportunity to water the plants around you. That's how we got Suzanne (our ficus tree) back on her feet.
Check your To Do
At the end of the day, instead of looking at what you haven't been able to finish, count up the tasks you have managed to complete. These are called small successes. In this way, you'll be able to take stock of all the things you've done during the day. It's a great way to see where the positive fits in with the negative.
Take some time to breathe
Spoiler alert: this is the best break in the world! Keep an eye on your watch and take deep breaths for 3 minutes. Alternate between inhaling and exhaling at a pace that suits you. It's ideal when you need to unwind during the day. During these three minutes, take the opportunity to stretch your legs by walking or getting some fresh air. You will be able to release stress, tension and negative thoughts. Feel free to pop in to see your favourite colleague if the moment is right. If you are one of the lucky ones who own an ActiveBase, your break is the ideal time to practise relaxation and re-energise. Core training, muscle strengthening or deep muscle relaxation, the choice is yours...
Rest your eyes
Faced with screens all day long, our eyes are subjected to this excess of technology. For the well-being of your eyeballs, remember to look out of the window into the distance. If you don't have one, this exercise can also be done by fixing a point on the far wall of your office. In addition to this, don't hesitate to work on paper to alternate with screens.
Of course, this list of tips is completely exhaustive, and you are free to carry out other vision exercises. Don't hesitate to consult a healthcare professional on this subject.
At ActiveBase, during our breaks, we regularly do exercises on our ergonomic stool.
And what do your favourite breaks consist of?
